Nobody knows Donsol except

Posted on September 5th, 2010 by admin

Nobody knows Donsol except for, of course, its local inhabitants until a few years ago when tourists from all over the world began to flock this remote place to get a look-see at the largest fish on earth: the whale shark.

Before, fishermen in Donsol were ignorant of the ecological (and tourist) value of whale sharks. They used to hunt, slaughter and sell the poor gentle sea creatures to Japanese traders. Local folks call them ?butanding? or ?big fish? in the vernacular. Early sightings of the butandings were reported in the Visayan seas in Bohol further south. It was said that massive slaughtering caused their migration to Donsol waters.

Although, according to stories, the first butanding that was netted out in the area was also butchered. A marine biologist witnessed it and instantly recognized the fish as a rare marine specie. The biologist immediately reported the incident to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), an international organization promoting the preservation of the wildlife.

WWF wasted no time and launched an education campaign about the giant creature.

Remember all time

Posted on September 5th, 2010 by admin

Remember all time invested here will be repaid many times. Resist the urge and tendency to ?get this done and get on with the work.?

Once the document is created, have all parties sign it as a way to signify commitment to each other. Then keep the document fresh by referring to it in team meetings and making sure that you stay on-track with the boundaries and guidance it provides. Recognize too that as time moves forward you may need to make adjustments, clarifications or changes to the charter. This is perfectly fine as long as all team members and the leader and sponsor are in agreement and ?sign on? to the changes.

Be Forewarned

Will creating a team charter take time?

Absolutely.

Will some people want to stop talking and get started?

For sure.

Recognize these facts but remember an even bigger one ? time spent collaboratively building a charter will be repaid in reduced frustration, improved productivity and better results.

Once you find the link to “jobs” you may find it described in a number of different ways:

Careers,

Join our Team,

Team “fill in the blank” What is your favorite?

Job seekers should be able to find your postings with a minimum of clicks and difficulty. Unfortunately this is not the case on most sites. Visitors are looking for your jobs and will move on to the next company if your jobs are too hard to find! This means lost candidates and more recruitment expenses to find candidates.

What’s more, posting jobs on your company web site is a great cost effective way to reduce reliance on job boards. Additionally, more and more companies are integrating their automated resume tracking systems with their career sites on company job boards.

.jobs is the first Internet domain designated exclusively for human resource professionals and endorsed by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Susan R. Meisinger, SPHR, president and CEO of SHRM had this to say about the new.jobs domain:

?A company?s .jobs site has the potential to create a more streamlined recruiting process for HR professionals, and make it easier for prospective employees to find vacant jobs.?

The format is simply:

www.companyname.jobs

.jobs was just approved.

Once they?re trained, they?re not going

Posted on September 5th, 2010 by admin

Once they?re trained, they?re not going to take guff from anybody!

The expression, ?You can?t judge a book by its cover,? definitely applies to potential adversaries.

So, never look at someone and think, ?I can take that guy!?

That attitude, alone, will set you up for a big fall!

Today, I?m a whiz at planning strategy and using the various pieces to best advantage. But I still remember how I got hooked on chess as a young kid. Of course, like most kids, my love affair with chess started by watching my elders play. My eyebrows would always rise and I would always be spellbound whenever one of my elder cousins would exclaim ?checkmate? which a triumphant smile and a gleam in his eyes. I told myself, I want that feeling, too. So, I started to play chess.

When I found out exactly how checkmate got its meaning, I was hooked all the more. Apparently, the word ?checkmate? comes from the English translation of the Persian phras ?shah mat? which means ?the king is finished?.

Who we hope

Posted on September 5th, 2010 by admin

Who we hope is not the hostess!!!!!

“Tell me oh wise one. What are the
most important things to remember?”

Ready?

When in the midst of a birthday party planning crisis and the negative thoughts appear…replace them with a positive one !

Tah-da!!!

Seriously. Invasive thoughts will only add to the tension….and their opposite, as the name suggests, will have the opposite effect.

After years of event and birthday party planning and watching people go through their party pains, I have noticed five usual suspects:

No:1

“I can’t cope with this”

Meaning: “It’s all about me!”

Remedy: “It’s all about them!!” Get back to why you are doing it and what others will benefit from you efforts. A warm glow should follow.

No:2

“There’s too much to handle!”

Meaning: “I’m out of control with this”

Remedy: “It’s all a matter of one-thing-at-a-time!!” Revise your planning and run sheet and look for a way to hand -off three tasks. Do this and the tension will plummet.

No:3

“Why is it always me.

Previous studies showing that riboflavin can prevent migraines used 400 mg per day, which is at least 200 times the amount in a typical diet. In the new study, 25 mg per day appeared to be effective.

Riboflavin was originally considered for migraine prevention because researchers observed that migraine sufferers tend to have impaired energy production in brain cells, which riboflavin has the potential to enhance as it is a component of a key substance involved in the body?s energy production. Magnesium, another nutrient important for producing energy, has already been shown to reduce migraine recurrence. In earlier studies with riboflavin, a very high dose was chosen, presumably to give the vitamin the best chance of working.

New Report From Rider Research Studies the Impact of the iPad on the Digital Media Industry

Business Wire, April 15, 2010

BATON ROUGE, La. — The iPad is causing the entertainment, publishing and information
industries to undergo a radical paradigm shift in their methods of
delivering entertainment and information to consumers, according to a
new report from Rider Research of Baton Rouge, La.

The impact started on day one. Apple said it sold over 300,000 the first
day the iPad went on sale in the U.S. and that over one million iPad
apps were downloaded. With the iPad, Apple has created a leisure media
device that consumers can use thoughout the home: for reading books,
playing movies and music or as an instruction manual for home repairs or
cooking.

Geoff Whiting, who prepared the report, says, Studios, TV networks and
magazine/newspaper publishers are no longer limited to immobile TV sets,
mobile phones with tiny screens or PCs that place entertainment in a
secondary role. Instead, the major TV networks, online video services,
newspapers, magazines and book publishers will use the iPad as a hybrid

Posted on September 5th, 2010 by admin

You have to use the proper lighting, keep objects in focus and chose the correct background that enhances the target without distorting its colors or detracting from it.

The smaller the item, the more difficult it can be to take good photos, as cameras might have difficulties focusing on such small targets. I was wrestling with a particularly tricky photo of earrings one day, when I came across the suggestion of using a scanner. I tried it it, and the results were great – very detailed images that preserved even the tiniest features of the object.

The only limitations I have found is that objects should not be too three-dimensional, as that can cause focus problems. Also, in some instances very shiny materials, such as silver, can cause distortions.

Another issue is the background – sometimes the white plastic of the scanner lid just won’t do.
